2007 WJF Training Camp
Posted September 26, 2007
Note: This is a juggling convention that focuses on skill development,
so we're listing it as a Festival and as a Workshop. Take from it what you
will. Posted as received.
The 2007 WJF Training Camp is this December 17th-20th, 2007.
This year I've decided to hold junior and intermediate overall championship
competitions to give our up and coming competitors a chance to practice
competing in a low pressure venue. We'll most likely have medals and prizes
for these events as well. Details on the training camp competitions can be
found here.
In addition to the competitions, we'll have plenty of workshops held by
myself, Jason Garfield, and Vova Galchenko. 24 hour a day practice space
will be available in the Riviera Hotel's Royale Pavilion, the site of the
2004 and 2005 WJF Conventions. We will also have PX3 Clubs, beanbags, rings
and new DVDs available and a Go Kart party on the last day!
December 1st Hotel Deadline
The Riviera Hotel is offering $45/night double occupancy room rates. The
reservation deadline is December 1st, 2007. When making your reservation
please remember to mention that you are with the World Juggling Federation
event to get the convention rate. Please make your reservations asap. This
helps us with the hotel so that they have a rough estimate as to how many
people we are expecting. This also gives us a little more flexibility with
extra amenities that we can add to the training camp. More hotel information
can be found here.
Training Camp Price Increase October 1st
Currently the WJF Training Camp fee is $125.00 however it will be going up
on October 1st so purchase your ticket before the 1st of next month to get
the current low rate.
2007 WJF Convention Video
I just finished the first of two DVDs to be produced from WJF 4. This DVD
contains one hour and twenty minutes of beginner, junior boys and girls,
women's clubs and intermediate competition routines as well as exhibition
highlights, pre convention and behind the scenes footage including some
coverage of Vova's mystery date. More information and a trailer can be found

class="body">here.
WJF 5 Competitor Profile Videos
I'm almost done negotiating the dates and location for WJF 5. This year we'd
like to bring back the competitor profile videos that we had for the first
two conventions. There will be more information on the WJF website when we
start promoting the convention, but for now if you think you might compete,
start thinking about a picture you'd like to have used on the WJF website to
promote your participation in the competition and start thinking about
producing a couple of profile videos specifically for the promotion of
yourself in the WJF competitions. You can combine an interview with yourself
talking about juggling, competition, your views on juggling and the sport,
and also show some of the moves you're most proud of. I mentioned two videos
because I think it would be cool to show one as far away from the convention
date as possible, and then have an updated video 2-3 months before showing
your progress. Videos for all competitions will be accepted including
combat, concentration and the other extreme events. I'll put more
information about this on the WJF website soon, but for now just start
thinking about it.
That's about it for now. I'm heading to the Portland Juggling Festival in a
few days so if anyone is looking for PX3 clubs or WJF DVDs and wants to save
on shipping, make your way out to Portland this weekend and we'll see what
we can do for you. More soon...
