NIMBLE ARTS Aerial Workshops in Brooklyn

Nimble Arts Trapeze & Circus School is on the forefront of modern aerial
training. With their safe, methodical approach and detailed aerial
vocabulary, even the most intricate maneuvers become approachable to the
aerial student. Join Nimble Arts instructors Bronwyn Sims & Marina
Sgambellone for aerial fabric workshops and private lessons on fabric,

Aerial Fabric Workshop: Beginner/Intermediate
Friday June 22, 6 - 9 pm
Cost: $80
For students who want an introduction to the aerial fabric, we'll teach you
to climbing, foot locks and basic inversions with special attention to
proper technique and body posture. For more experienced students we'll
delve deeper into technique while teaching more intricate vocabulary and
creative sequences. Age 16 & above or permission of instructor.
Aerial Fabric Workshop: Int/Advanced
Saturday June 23, 12 - 3 pm
Cost: $80
If you know the basics of aerial fabric and want to learn more choreography
and drops, this is the workshop for you. Students must be able to make a
foot lock, climb the fabric and invert off the ground. We'll work through
general vocabulary on the fabric, and culminate with more intricate
combinations and drops. If you are not sure if the Intermediate/Advanced
workshop is for you, please email elsie@nimblearts.org with any
questions.

Private lessons
Private lessons are available on aerial fabric, lyra/hoop, sling/hammock &
trapeze. Beginner through advanced students welcome. Learn new skills, or
work on act choreography and creative transitions. To set up your private
lesson please email elsie@nimblearts.org.
Cost: $75/hr for 1 person
$85/hr for 2 people to share
$95/hr for 3 people to share
$105/hr for 4 people to share

About Nimble Arts and the Instructors:
Elsie Smith and Serenity Smith Forchion founded the Nimble Arts Trapeze and
Circus School in Brattleboro, Vermont after returning home from a 4 year
tour on Cirque du Soleil's Saltimbanco. Their teaching & performing
backgrounds include Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey Circus, Circus of the
Kids, the New Pickle Circus, Pilobolus, the Actor's Gym, Circus Juventus,
Umo Ensemble & Canopy Aerial Dance Studio. Elsie has also taught aerials at
the San Francisco School of Circus Arts, has a Coaches Certification in
trampoline, & has choreographed for the UGA Dance Department, Circus Smirkus
& Sea World, among others. They have also returned to Cirque du Soleil to
teach their Injury Prevention methods at La Nouba and
Mystere.
In 2003 they founded Nimble Arts to offer circus & movement classes to
recreational & professional students of all ages. Having developed a
progressive teaching style that is on the forefront of modern aerial
instruction, they have trained several other teachers in their
methodology. They offer lessons & workshops that focus on the
transformative joy of movement, the precision of correct technique & the
creative power of acrobatic & aerial movement.
Bronwyn Sims is an actor, acrobat and teacher. She has worked with such
groups as The Obie award winning LAVA, The Van Lodostov Family Circus,
Cirque Boom, Wise Fool & Frequent Flyers Aerial Dance Festival in 2005 &
2006. She is a founding company member of The NYC based Circus Theatre
company KIRKOS. She is also currently in collaboration with Odonata Dance
Project on a new production. She has been teaching with Nimble Arts since
2004, and performs with their touring company. She can be found online at

Marina Sgambellone has been teaching and training aerials with Nimble Arts
since 2005. She has performed in venues on both coasts of the US on the
trapeze, lyra, and fabrics. She is a proficient teacher, blending her
experience as a yoga instructor, her attention to alignment and injury
prevention with her repertoire of skills and conditioning tools. Marina has
also taught for the Aerial Dance Festival as Elsie Smith's assistant in
Boulder, CO; Canopy studio in Athens, GA; the New York Theater Institute in
Albany, NY and several workshops in and around Vermont. She can be found
