Coney Island Sideshow Advanced Studies Workshop April 14 & 15
Posted January 19, 2006
Note: Rare opportunity. Cool instructors. Posted as received.
We are doing our second ever Advanced Studies Weekend in Coney Island on
April 14 & 15. David Adamovich (the Great Throwdini) will teach knife
throwing, Chris McDaniel will teach Western Arts with whips and ropes,
Harley Newman will teach escapes, and Ses Carny will teach Human Pincushion.
Sideshow School Dean Todd Robbins will be on hand to oversee activities and
fill in information about other skills the students want to know about.
Participants are also encouraged to bring material they are working on to
perform and get feedback.
The tuition is $250. The classes will run from about 12 noon to 4pm both
days, and will be held at the Coney Island Museum (1208 Surf Ave @12th St.
in Coney Island). The weekend is open to all people who have been students
of the Coney Island Sideshow School, or are performers that have already
mastered skills like fire eating and the Human Blockhead and wish to add to
their repertoire. Jugglers who want to learn some of these skills are also
welcome to attend.
The Advanced Studies Weekend has only been offered once before in the
five-year history of the Coney Island Sideshow School. It is not known when
we will be able to offer this again. If you know of anyone in your circle
that might be interested in this, please forward it to them.
For questions or to register, please contact Todd Robbins.
If you are interested in a potential barter of performance for tuition,
please contact Viveca Gardiner.
