"The little trick of getting three objects to dance around in your hands has always managed to keep a small sense of magic...It's one form of insanity we feel everyone has a right to experience."

Clown/Improv Workshop with Eric Davis April 1
Posted January 19, 2006

Note: Instructor Eric Davis is best known for his Red Bastard character. The listing is posted as received.

Clown For the Improviser: Improvising from the Heart

Instructor: Eric Davis

Yes, you've improvised, but what does it mean to improvise from the heart? A clown wears her thoughts and feelings on the outside of her skin for all to see. Through great generosity and courage we allow the audience to see our personal ridiculousness. Not to say a joke, but to be the joke. When the clown does this, he will not be liked, he will be loved.

This 4-hour introductory workshop will begin to awaken your inner clown through various exercises and play, focusing on impulse, emotion and physical expression.

Saturday, April 1 (No Joke!)
11-3 pm
Location: The PIT Theater (154 W. 29th St, 2nd Fl)
Prerequisite: None
$75
or call 212 563 7488 to register

ERIC DAVIS has been called "One of the hottest, funniest performing artists on the scene today" by Backstage Magazine, "Very, very funny" by the New York Times, and "A cult favorite" by TimeOut New York. He has taught and performed improvisation and clown for over a dozen years in the US and internationally. Most recently he collaborated with David Shiner to workshop Cirque du Soleil's upcoming 2007 production.
