Note: This is the first we've heard of a real commedia class in New York, and the instructors are well known and highly regarded.

Hovey Burgess, Julie Goell and Stanley Allan Sherman combine 117 years of theater experience to give students a firm grounding in Classical Commedia Dell' Arte. Teaching collaboratively, these three master teachers offer an integrated program of masks, music, dance, acrobatics, slapstick, juggling, improvisation, scenario work and more! Students learn the physical style of Commedia Dell' Arte as it was "then" and how it may be used "now" as a creative tool for actors, performers and directors.
Burgess, Goell and Sherman have unique strengths in different areas of Commedia Dell' Arte. By winding their talents together they offer a foundation in the linked disciplines associated with this art form. They are committed to strengthening the individual qualities of each student. This demanding physical style of theater is taught as a fascinating theatrical idiom in its own right and serves as an invaluable tool for the contemporary theater professional.
