Peter Davison Show with Boulder Ballet Mar 14-15
Posted February 16, 2009
Note: Both as a member of the seminal troupe Airjazz and as a solo
performer, Peter Davison has been creating and performing innovative
and interesting work mixing juggling and dance for decades. His pieces
will include object manipulation; the rest of the program is likely to
be pure dance (probably high quality though, because of the selection
process). Details posted as received.
What:
Ballet Builders 2009
Ballet Builders is a juried showcase promoting contemporary ballet. This
year, a panel of ballet professionals selected six choreographers from 75
submissions from the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Ballet Builders produces the
choreographers' work in New York City, providing important exposure to
fellow artists, administrators, and critics in the field of dance.
Peter Davison is one of the choreographers chosen for, as the director of
Ballet Builders commented, "the clever use of props with ballet." Peter
has been working to mix the arts of object manipulation and dance for many
years. The two dances to be shown at Ballet Builders are excerpts from
Peter's 2008 work Cirque D'Amour which was premiered by
Boulder Ballet in Colorado last winter. A YouTube montage from
Cirque D'Amour can be seen at youtube.com/watch?v=C8fI8_cvqbY
