Posted September 5, 2007
This weekend only, Sean Blue will be featured in Brooklyn Music School's
production of The Creation, directed by Aspects of
Movement.
The rest of this listing is from the Aspects of Movement website:
The Creation: a history
James Weldon Johnson (1871-1938) was a leading Americna author, poet, early
civil rights activist, prominent figure in the Harlem Renaissance and
professor at Fisk University. Mr. Johnson was also one of the first African
American professors at new York University. The poem "The Creation" (1919)
is based upon the story of the creation in the first book of the Bible. Mr.
Johnson also wrote "Lift Every Voice and Sing."
The Creation: a production
The audience will become immersed in wonderment as the vivid text of "The
Creation" is combined with artistic movement. Directed and Choreographed by
Bernard Jackson, a former lead artist of Cirque du Soleil's "Mystere," "The
Creation" combines dance, theatre, and circus arts to crate a truly colorful
and imaginative world. A world where rocks sculpt themselves, waves develop
feminine curves, and a tree gives life to the Earth.
This beautifully told story is one for the whole family and children of all
ages. Whether you view this to be a tale of history or mythology, com and
experience the magic.
