Absinthe at Spiegeltent through Sept. 30
Posted August 9, 2007
Absinthe was a huge hit last year in its gorgeous mirrored spiegeltent at
the South Street Seaport. The tent is back, and so is the show, a bawdy mix
of circus, sideshow, and cabaret.
From the Spiegeltent website:
Absinthe - New York 2007
We're back, and we're on sale now!
"Imagine Cirque du Soleil as channeled through "Rocky Horror Picture Show"
and painted by George Grosz. A blend of skill, erotic innuendo and zaniness.
The memorable moments make a jaded audience literally gasp." - The New
York Times
A nighttime saunter through the strangest, most sultry circus in town.
Absinthe collides fair ground attraction with torch song and spectacle
within the elegant, sumptuous surrounds of this exceptional venue.
"An off-beat European circus on acid - Do not miss it."
- Cindy Adams, NY Post
The Spiegeltent at the Fulton Fish Mark at Pier 17 is an opulent venue of
canvas, cut glass, teak, mirrors, billowing velvet and brocade overlooking
one of the most breathtaking views of the city.
"AB FAB! Amazing, high-flying showmanship. SIMPLY ASTONISHING!"
- The Daily News
Absinthe is back for 13 weeks only. Grab your friends, bring your drinks
back to your seat and take in the jaw-dropping beauty & mystery of this
extravaganza.
