Sxip's Hour of Charm May 28
Posted May 26, 2007
Note: Sxip's shows are always amazing, but we don't usually list them here
even though Sxip is one of the greatest circus composers in NYC. This time,
however, the show features a wonderful contortion act and Carmine's own
Brent McCoy--among a huge host of other great acts. Posted as received from
Sxip.
Gemini and Scorpio presents:
SXIP'S HOUR OF CHARM
Dear Friends,
HA!!! this is just a silly ridiculous amount of acts and show and
everything. Gorge yourself on art. This will be incredible, 9 acts
and 17 performers! The goal here, like the last Hour of Charm, is to
give you an evening of art and entertainment as absolutely sublime
as I can make it. This will be the last Sxip's Hour of Charm and
Sxip performance in NYC for awhile so try to make it out! And as many
of you know, this show is much longer than an hour.
I got lucky this time and got the jaw-dropping male contortionist
JOHNATHAN NOSAN. His style is very intense and beautiful. Not ONLY
did I get Johnathan but he's going to bring his contortionist
boyfriend BEND JOE. So you will be able to witness the ONLY double
male contortion act in the country! We also have the fun and funny
VARSITY INTERPRETIVE DANCE SQUAD who were featured in MOBY'S new
video! My favorite band in NYC, The Wiyos will delight the hell out
of you. I call THE WIYOS "The band that will get you laid". It's
true. I have hard evidence. GREG WALLOCH, our favorite raunchy nasty
absolutely sweet heartfelt comedian will be telling an absurd true
story about cops, stoners and being locked in Tompkins Square park
after dark. ZERO BOY, the wizard of pure vocal sound effect
psycedelia promises to pull something explosive out his mouth. .DJ
JOE BASS will be spinning from on hand cranked VICTROLAS. Brand new
to New York, we have juggling genius BRENT MCCOY. SXIP will present
the further works for backwards disc music box, the new piece for
multiple train whistles and triple extended tin whistle and a new
snaky bullhorn harmonica Klezmer stomp. The night ends with the
middle eastern grooves of DJINN, which features Hurdy Gurdy, Human
Beat box, Cumbus and Doumbek.
whew...what more could you want?
