Nicholas Flair Presents "The Other Side"
At The Brooklyn Arts Exchange
Sunday, Feb. 11th @ 2pm
Nicholas Flair premieres his latest solo show as part of the Groundhog Series For Family Audiences at BAX. In "The Other Side," award-winning juggler Flair combines comedy, acrobatics, and multimedia effects with world-class juggling to create a visual performance that will engage the whole family. Everyday objects are not at all what they appear in this inventive story of a man that has to play with everything. Flair manipulates a towering stack of books...and then the bookshelf! He plays with a huge kitchen knife...balancing precariously on top of the kitchen counter! Even an annoying grandfather clock is transformed into a plaything. All is done with humor, skill, and ease in this unforgettable show.
"The Other Side" was written and directed by DJ McDonald and Nicholas Flair, aided by comedy consultant Yves Dagenais. Sets constructed by Seth Allshouse, and costumes by Jennifer Johanos.
Tickets for Nicholas Flair's "The Other Side" are available for $10/$8 General Admission. For ticket reservations, call BAX at 718-832-0018 or reserve online at http://www.bax.org/tickets.php
ABOUT THE CREATORS
NICHOLAS FLAIR
Nicholas got hooked on juggling as a high school student in Ithaca, NY. As a student at Brown University, he founded the Out of Hand Juggling Club, studied dance, worked with the Pan-Twilight Circus, and joined Misnomer Dance Theater, performing at the Joyce Soho. After receiving a B.A. in mathematics, he defied the laws of probability by pursuing graduate work at Montreal's Ecole Nationale de Cirque. There he created his signature acrobatic cigar box routine and earned a degree in circus arts. Winner of the 2006 Cigar Box Juggling Championship, Nicholas has performed Off-Broadway and around the world with Lazer Vaudeville, in The Metropolitan Opera's Parade, and with Cirque Starlight's tour of Premiere in Switzerland. Nicholas has taken to the waves with Holland America cruise lines and hit the airwaves on FOX TV's 30 Seconds to Fame. He has been covered by The New York Times, The New Yorker, and is a regular on the pages of Juggle magazine.
