"The little trick of getting three objects to dance around in your hands has always managed to keep a small sense of magic about it...It's one form of insanity we feel everyone has a right to experience."

Volunteers Needed!
August 6, 2003

Editorial Note: The following is directly clipped from an email we received from the organizers of this event.

One of our programs is The Mentoring Project. This is a program similar to Big Brothers Big Sisters, where we match a mentor artist with one of the children from one of the shelters we work with. Last year we had a our first outing/activity as a group with all the mentors and mentees at El Museo del Barrio where the kids did an art treasure hunt, learned about the exhibition and artists exhibiting, had the chance to do a hands on project based on the exhibit and of course had food and snacks! They had a great time and are looking forward to the next activity/outing together. My idea is that the next group activity should be relate to the performing arts and I thought learning to juggle would be new and a lot of fun to them.

I would love it if we could get a group of jugglers to work with a group of around 12 mentors with their mentees, doing a demonstration first and then teaching them the basics of juggling, they could even decorate whatever they use to juggle with and work in pairs with their mentors. Being a non-profit, we usually work with volunteer artists, but if you know of anybody that would be willing to do this and definitely needs to get paid, we could discuss this.

The juggling activity in itself would last an hour and would take place in September, please let me know if you received this e-mail and if you know of anybody that might be interested in working with us. If you need the information about Art Start again, let me know and I'll resend it. Also, feel free to e-mail me with any questions okay?

Thank you so much for your time.

Take care,
