- Clown for the Improviser
Instructor: Eric Davis
Sundays 3-6 PM Beginning May 23rd, 2004
EVERY IMPROVISER should be versed in clown.
Learn what it means to improvise from the heart.
Know what it means to be your Maximum Self on stage. When a performer
knows his self so well that he may expose his personal joys and folly on
stage for the world to laugh at, he creates a freedom and power that is
unequalled.
Be Beautiful. Be Ridiculous. Be authentic. Be connected.
Be 100% Absolutely FANTASTIC!
This class is the first step in unleashing the powerful experience that is
your inner clown. Allow the audience to laugh, not at your joke, but at
you.
Eric Davis has been improvising and teaching for over 12 years. He has
performed and taught internationally in Ireland, Belgium, Canada, London, as
well as in the States. His unique training methods have led him to teach
people from all walks of life from Kindergarteners to Executives of Fortune
500 companies as well as Maximum Security Prisons. His Bouffon and Native
American clown work has been celebrated by critics as "genius" and
"disturbingly funny", sought after by industries top fashion photographers
and music video directors as well as the Late Show with David Letterman.
He is the mentee of Sue Morrison- whose work in Native American Clowning has
been exalted as a breakthrough in the world of theatre. Eric's highly
popular clowning class at the People's Improv Theatre has been filled to
capacity since its inception.
- The Ultimate Movement Class
Instructor: Eric Davis
Sundays 12-3 PM starting May 23rd
Okay performers, this is it!
A class that's going to work you, challenge you, and MAKE YOU BETTER!
Learn how to use your Body and the Theatrical Space to achieve Maximum
Presence on stage. Master teacher Eric Davis will guide you through
essential Laban, Lecoq and Dance techniques to unleash your unique
theatrical power.
Elements of Study will be:
- The actor's body and how it moves. (What are your current
habits and limitations? What possibilities are you not exploring?)
- The Actor's space- creating dramatic context. (How does the
Performer use his or her body and the performance space to make the most of
a dramatic situation?)
- Working as Ensemble. (How does a group work together to
create dynamic, visual, powerfully charged work?)
Eric will increase your ability to use Tempo, Rhythm, Gesture, Shape,
Architecture, Proximity, and, of course, the motor of all movement: Impulse
and Emotion.
Be a Standout! Become that expressive, articulate perfomer producers and
directors look for!
