Thanks to all who have gotten guests passes when renewing or opening new
memberships, and thanks to all who have been writing the gym. They have made
it quite clear that they consider the problem solved. We don't, but we need
to think of a solution -- not just complain. In the meantime, please
remember to let us know before you renew or open a new membership, and
please donate your guest passes for visiting jugglers.

5. Jamy Ian Swiss -- Magic: Close-Up In Concert
Possibly the best sleight-of-hand magician there is.
The most magical spot in New York just became a little more amazing . . .
High above Rockefeller Center, Magic: Close-up in Concert is an
unforgettable evening of intimate conjuring. To start off this series of
stylish sorcery, there is no better choice than the one and only Jamy Ian
Swiss, a world-class master of sleight-of-hand.
Enjoy a cocktail or dinner prior to the show at the elegant Rainbow Room on
the 65th floor of the GE Building at 30 Rockefeller Plaza (FOR DINNER
RESERVATIONS ONLY, you must call the Rainbow Room directly at
212-632-5000) -- take in the surroundings and breathtaking view of the
Manhattan skyline.
The evening begins in an exquisite Art Deco private salon of the Rainbow
Room as the select audience gathers. This room is typically only open to the
elite of New York's society. Seating will be extremely limited, to assure
that each person has the ultimate, intimately magical experience at this
concert of close-up wonders.
Jamy Ian Swiss an "astonishing close-up magician!" according to Vanity Fair
will then entertain, astound, mystify, baffle, and utterly amaze an audience
seated within inches of the action. Combining a sharp wit, a quick mind,
skilled hands, and a distinctive personality, the impossible and even the
unimaginable will unfold with the simplest of objects: coins, cups, balls,
and especially, an ordinary deck of 52 playing cards. No trick photography
or TV editing just an hour of stunning and sophisticated entertainment:
magic, close-up!
An acclaimed master of the challenging art of close-up magic, he has
performed throughout the United States for presenters ranging from Fortune
500 companies to the Smithsonian Institution (where he lectured as a part of
their Masters of Magic program). He has lectured to magicians in 13
countries, and made numerous television appearances in the United States,
Europe, and Japan.
According to post-modern magicians Penn & Teller, "Jamy Ian Swiss is the
kind of guy you read about and just know can't exist in the real world. He
makes one understand what a terrifying art form pure sleight of hand can be.
He is James Bond with a deck of cards for a pistol!"
Magic: Close-up in Concert is an amazing performance presented in an
incredible setting a truly magical experience you will never forget!

6. SIDESHOW SATURDAY NIGHT with Todd Robbins & Friend
New York's resident one-man sideshow.
The legendary Todd Robbins will be seen doing what he does best in Sideshow
Saturday Night on September 21st & 28th at 10:00 PM at the SoHo Playhouse.
This will be an unforgettable show featuring classic acts from the carnival
ten-in-one performed by the man known around the world as the foremost
purveyor of amazement. Todd is the classiest act ever to ever grace the
stage of the American Sideshow.
If Todd looks familiar to you, it's probably because you might have seen him
on one of the over 100 TV shows he has done! Chances are, that if you have
been amazed and amused by a guy on TV eating glass, hammering a nail into
his nose, walking over broken bottles in his bare feet, swallowing swords,
sticking his hand into an animal trap, using only the power of his lungs to
blow up a hot water bottle until it explodes and doing the unthinkable with
a small balloon . . . it was Todd Robbins doing it.
Sideshow Saturday Night will also feature a special Freak of the Week! This
guest spot will be performed by one of the most amazing entertainers of the
current generation of sideshow stars, the fabulous ULA, the Pain Proof
Rubber Girl!
