This week the newsletter is a direct copy of the email newsletter in case some people didn't recieve it, as V is having email drama.

Hey Carmine Crew,

Hello from scenic Camp Chipinaw somewhere in the Catskill mountains. I'm missing Carmine to pieces, and even though I've been flying on trapeze and eating fire, I miss practicing throwing things at myself in a sweaty gym.

Also, my Carmine Street group didn't transfer to this borrowed laptop, so, uh, I'm sorry if you aren't getting this (but then again, you'll never know, will you?) or if you're getting this and don't want it. I'm just doing the list from memory.

Most importantly, Carmine Street will be closed this week for the 4th of July, so go have a barbecue, and reflect on what our nation's independence means to you. When you get back, here are some things you may want to think about.

All responses will be appreciated even more than usual while I'm feeling completely cut off from reality. Thanks to Sketch for the title.

... Counting the days until Reading!

3. Jamy Ian Swiss Magic Workshop

Yes it' s magic not juggling, but Jamy is really, really good.

You may already have seen the advertisement in the July issue of Genii magazine. Now, may I cordially invite you to visit www.card-clinic.com. There you will find the complete explanation of this unique, three-day event that will allow a small group of students to submerge themselves in the art of card magic, hosted by myself, Jamy Ian Swiss, and my colleague and special guest, Roberto Giobbi, author of the international instructional best-seller, Card College.

The first Card Clinic will take place September 13 - 15, 2002, in New York City. You will find complete details at the web site, where (on the home page) you may also easily download a pdf file containing all of the complete information as well.

I invite my friends and colleagues to please pass this email along to a friend as well as to potential registrants.

Finally, you may want to drop by www.jamyianswiss.com, to check out my latest lecture notes and especially my recently published CD-ROM collection of my Genii book reviews, 1994-2000, just reviewed by Michael Close in MAGIC magazine.

4. Luma performing in Reading

Many of us saw an earlier incarnation of Luma in NY.
To the Juggling Club:

I am writing to let you know about an exciting performance happening in Reading, PA on the first evening of the 2002 International Jugglers Association festival. Luma is the creation of Marlin, world-renowned juggler. The cast includes fellow IJA members Greg and Shana Kennedy, Jonathan Perry, and Jan Brotman, as well as Jessica Fueger.

Luma is a show based on light, using elements of juggling, dance and trapeze to depict natural, artificial, and metaphysical light. Marlin was one of the first performers to combine illuminated technology with juggling, and the show continues to be on the cutting edge of special lighting effects. The show has traveled the world, from The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC to Jay Leno's Tonight Show, from India's Film Fare Awards to rock concerts in Holland. We have sold out theatres from California to New Hampshire, Florida to the Dakotas.

The show will run for approximately 2 hours, including an intermission. You can find more information and pictures of Luma on our Web site, www.lumatheatre.com

The ticket prices for Luma are $25 in advance, $30 at the door, but we are able to offer a special discount for IJA groups. A group of 20 can purchase tickets for $15 apiece; a group of 10 can purchase them for $20 apiece. All you have to do is call the box office and order the tickets, using the Group Discount code words juggle light. The box office telephone number for the Sovereign Performing Arts Center is 610-898-7299, and the show will take place at 7:30 PM on Monday, July 15th.

We look forward to seeing you in Reading!

Shana Kennedy, Luma Road Manager
