Lots of shows coming up, but the Planet Banana field trip was so much fun
last week that I've had requests to do more of those instead of just saying
what's around. In that spirit, this update is a combined info
list/invitation. Usual format though: summary up front, details below. Enjoy.
- Field trip to BFC open-stage variety night this Thursday after juggling.
- Young jugglers wanted for Reading youth showcase.
- Used props requested for puppet piece.
- Last Monday to juggle at Present Co.
- Juggle This! update.
- Random show recommendation.

Note: It's their last night of open stage. Let's show up in force and have
fun. Also, it's open stage, so feel free to prepare a piece to perform. It
would be great to see some Carminers on stage! Let's plan on taking a group
over after Carmine Thursday.

2. Young jugglers wanted for Reading youth showcase.
Note: There's a new organizer for the youth showcase at the nationals, and
he's going out of his way to include a variety of perfomers and give them
advance notice. Jugglers under 18, please consider performing, and contact
him directly if you are interested.
Following is email announcement:
Greetings from Idaho!
I am going to the IJA festival in Reading in July and am directing the Youth
Showcase on Wednesday, July 17th. I want to do all I can to make sure
jugglers know about the performance, and hope that they'll consider
performing. One doesn't have to be a HOT juggler to be in the show, just
motivated enough to do some work.
I plan to include routines kids polish before the festival, as well as
routines we put together in Reading. It's going to be a fun show,
highlighing youth having fun with juggling.
I also plan to have a contest for the youngest juggler who can do 20
throws,as part of the show, and hope we have some 6 year olds, maybe even 5
year olds in the contest.
If you know of any kids who might be interested, please encourage them to
contact me. Also, if you have any ideas for how to make the show a great
evening for the performers and the audience, send them on!
Thanks!
Sincerely,
David Groth

3. Used props requested for puppet piece.
Carmine's regular irregular Serra Hirsch requests used or damaged props
(especially clubs, unicycles, or bicycles) for a puppet piece she is
designing. Please help her out because if she can get the right stuff we
might be able to convince her to perform at Juggle This! which would be a
real treat for all of us. Contact her directly if you can space any
equipment. alexuma@aol.com

5. Juggle This! update.
Great news about the festival. The unstoppable Matt from Pratt has secured a
terrific gym for Friday and Saturday and a terrific theater for Friday
night. We already have some wonderful performers lined up, t-shirts are
being designed, and it's all moving along. Thank you to the many of you who
have volunteered to help us out and especially those of you who already
working your bottoms off. The rest of you, we will be taking you up on it as
soon as the mailer is designed. And those of you who haven't volunteered, I
hope you do. We'll probably need more people to staff tables and house
visiting jugglers. In the meantime, please tell everyone you know to come.

6. Random Show Recommendation.
Friday night I saw the best straight (non-comedy, non-variety) play I've
seen in a long time. It has nothing to do with juggling, and I have no
alterior motive for promoting the show, but I just wanted to tip my hat to
the production and tip my friends off to a great find. It's Cressida Among
the Greeks at the Ohio Theatre. I won't do it very often.
