Teach Juggling and Perform in CO this Summer

I am spreading the word about an opportunity to teach juggling to kids and perform at a summer camp near Denver, CO.

The camp is YMCA Camp Shady Brook, and it's a sleep-over camp with no real specialty (just your typical canoeing, rock climbing, horseback riding). But I've been working there for the past two summers and started to get a juggling program growing. Last year we had two jugglers working there and got even more enthusiasm from the kids...so much that the executive director is thinking about starting a week-long Circus Camp in 2010. Unfortunately, we can't work there again this summer, and since I really care about what I've started there, I was hoping to find someone who would want to jump in on this!

If you've never been a camp counselor before, and you have lots of energy (what juggler doesn't?), then this might be a great time to do something new and live in the beautiful Rocky Mountains all summer long! It's a great place to try out teaching methods, and also a great place to get some experience performing in a friendly environment. I did 2-4 performances weekly and taught hour-long juggling classes every day in addition to having a blast doing all of the other camp activities.

A few things that I think you should know about this camp:
  • Camp a blast, but it's hard work!
  • For those of you familiar with the YMCA, keep in mind that each one has their own feel, and this one probably won't turn you off if you're not into the whole "C" side of things.
  • The camp hires a handful of international staff each year, so don't write this opportunity off just because you're not from the U.S.
If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, please check out the camp's website, campshadybrook.com, or send me an email if you have questions.
