You are warmly invited to visit or participate in the Startissimo
2009, the 7th International Variety and Circus Festival
Dresden.
The Startissimo 2009, the 7th International Variety and Circus
Festival Dresden, will be taking place in the city from 23rd - 26th
April 2009. Dresden, the city on the River Elbe, enjoys global renown
as a result of its
history, the magnificent Semper Opera House, the reconstructed
Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady), and the unique Sistine Madonna.
However, Dresden is also known for its longstanding circus tradition,
particularly as the birthplace of the legendary "Sarrasani Circus,"
which is still famous today.
We are inviting artistes from all over the world to participate in the
competition held as part of the 7th International Variety and Circus
Festival Dresden 2009, and to enter themselves for the category "Young
Professionals" (18-27 years old). The closing date for entries is
January 15, 2009, and the list of competitors will be made public by
February 2, 2009.
In addition to an attractive festival program, the competition show,
staged before an audience of 1,200 visitors, and competition prizes
worth over €20,000 (prize money, guest performances etc.), the best
competition entrants will appear in a major TV gala on April 26, 2009
in Dresden as part of a media partnership with MDR (Central German
Broadcasting, MDR TV).
