Call for Submissions – Carnival of Samhain 2006
Posted October 5, 2006
Note: Posted as received.
Drama of Works is again producing their late night cabaret extravaganza to celebrate the Wiccan holiday of Samhain (www.wicca.com/celtic/akasha/samhainlore.htm) this November in good ole' NYC! This is the Fifth Annual festival, if you can believe it, and we're going all out!!!
If you have a 5–15 minute piece/performance (or film) that is already moody, spooky, filled with vampires, black cats, devils, skeletons, day of the dead imagery or would like to make one, please email us and let us know about it. We are looking to include puppet
pieces, as well as scenes, dance pieces, spoken word, comedy, circus acts and musical acts (with the majority being puppet pieces).
The Carnival will be at the beautiful Abrons Art Center this year, in their experimental theatre (and they also have a great outdoor ampitheater for stilters, fire eaters, etc.), in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. November 2nd-6th we'll be extending our favorite holiday and terrorizing unsuspecting New Yorkers. Join us!!!
(You may be asked to provide a script, photos or video to help us in our selection.)
Space on our apartment floors (and some travel reimbursement) is available for out-of-town people and the box office proceeds will be shared by all!
Thanks and Happy early Halloween!

P.S. Please forward this on to other artsy-types you know who may be interested, puppet or otherwise.
P.P.S. The Carnival will follow performances of the world
premiere of Drama of Works's Sleepy Hollow, in one of the Center's other theatres, so there's serious cross-marketing opportunities here. Get in while the getting's good.
